Interiors can be explained as an exploration of cinematic space and how architecture functions in film and media. Founded in December 2011 by Mehruss Jon Ahi and Armen Karaoghlanian, Interiors attempts to create a thoughtful dialogue between film and architecture with the hope of establishing a new analytic discussion.
In its 1st three years of publication (2012-2014), Interiors explored the relationship between Film and Architecture with Monthly Digital Magazines featuring Cinematic Floor Plans of famous Film Scenes. Their work was featured in a variety of Websites, Magazines and Journals, including Archdaily, Business Insider, Complex, Fast Company, The Verge, Filmmaker Magazine, Indiewire, Metropolis Magazine, Hypebeast and HighSnobiety. In addition, Archdaily, the world’s most visited Architecture website, featured Exclusive Pieces from Interiors on their website from 2013-2017.
In its 2nd three years of publication (2015-2018), Interiors explored the relationship between Film and Architecture even further with an Online Publication that featured Thinkpieces and original Articles from guest contributors.
Since 2018, Interiors has expanded the Online Publication to include Exclusive Interviews with individuals involved in Design, Architecture and Film. Most notably, Interviews with Design Studio, Snarkitecture, Production Designer, Chris Trujillo and Director, Nicholas Winding Refn. In addition, in March of 2020, Interiors released their 1st Book with Intellect Publishing entitled The Architecture of Cinematic Spaces by Interiors. The book is an academic, graphic exploration of architectural spaces in cinema that provides a new perspective on the relationship between architecture and film. Interiors is constantly looking to evolve and expand their website with new printed and digital material for their thousands of readers and followers. Their goal is to create the definitive place for analysis on the relationship between Architecture and Film.
